Fast crossing to Moorea

There was today a “kind of” regatta between cruisers (mainly Americans and Canadians) to join Moorea from Tahiti (about 20 nm). Greg couldn’t leave such an opportunity to race (our last race was in Carriacou last August). Quite strong winds were forecasted. However, 35 boats met up at the entrance of Papeete harbour to start the race at 9:30 this morning.
The kids helped us getting Merlin ready and were too excited to race again.
We had up to 35 knt of wind which did not scare the crew. As the speed went up, Greg smile went bigger. Merlin did really well with a max speed 10.8 knt.
We think we finished 4th of the Catamaran fleet (passing a nasty cat right on the line).
We wish all the dads a very happy father’s day, especially Grand’Pa and Papou!

j'ai beaucoup pensé à vous.....d'autant qu'à l'heure de la course, je mangeais de délicieux fromages avec des amis......
IOn se console comme on peut de n'être plus sur Merlin, l'enchanteur .
