This and that on board

Still no repairs for Merlin. We put a claim in and are now waiting before booking our spot at the boat yard. Still no school books for Victor but we are using old books and are not delaying his year too much. And still no hurricane thankfully!

We had our friends from "Le Goeland" a 54ft cat on board for Christian's birthday. We surprised him with an appropriate cake.

We all went for a short walk today ...and Clea was so happy to see some local animals!

Otherwise, Greg is busy fixing "African Tail", our rubber duck, making a rudder for Miaou, our hard dinghy (a friend lent us a Optimist sail to try). We are trying to work hard on the school side and the kids only complain about the 32 degrees of the classroom. Victor was even doing extra maths this afternoon: sums with really big numbers (is it a premenition for a future job?)

Anniversaire de Victor: 9 ans déjà!

Petits cadeaux a bord (nous n ‘avions pas trouve ce que nous voulions ! lecon1 pour les cadeaux : acheter quelque chose avant d’arriver vers des iles ou il n’y a pas grand’chose).

Fete avec les copains des bateaux voisins sur la petite plage au Sud de Hog Island. Chasse au tresors d’organisee par Greg (petits paquets de bonbons et petite voiture caches dans les buissons), courses sur circuit fait par les enfants, et jeux d’eau pour se rafraichir.

Apres midi passee avec les copains (curieusement il n’y a pas de fille sur les autres bateaux rencontres) et a faire du surf en etant tire par une annexe. Victor est un vrai pro et Felix se debrouille tres bien avec son bodyboard.

Puis les fameuses bougies a la nuit tombee et a l’abri du vent. Re gateau et evenement vraiment exceptionnel Victor n’a voulu qu’une toute petite part (il a avoue en avoir mange 6 ce matin).

Les enfants grandissent, les anniversaires se font sous les tropiques et le temps passe a si vive allure.

Frustrating day: ggggrrrrrrrrrrr!

Peu de nouvelles cette semaine car nous avons ete bien occupes a essayer de trouver une solution pour les reparations de Merlin et les payements qui suivront. Apres 18 jours: rien n'a avance et aucune solution n'est en vue. L'assurance de l'autre bateau souhaite regler cela a l'amiable mais nous propose la 1/2 de ce que les devis sont reellement. Les responsables s'en lavent les mains et profitent de la belle vie a Grenade, esperant poursuivre dans 3 jours leur croisiere vers le Venezuela.

Toujours pas de Cned d'arrive pour Victor...

Sur une meilleure note, Victor a son anniversaire (9ans) demain et malgre les 30 degres dans le bateau (a 21h!), je me suis mise a faire des gateaux pour la fete qu'il a organise sur la plage.

Happy days

Our adventures today included a rather sad rugby game watched at the local marina where South Africa's Springboks got hammered by the Australians. Then it was boat cleaning time and Emmanuelle went off the the marina to wash the cushions. 

The afternoon was taken up with a birthday party of a good friend of Clea, Jade. A lot of fun was had by all.

Note the Caribbean way of cutting the birthday cake!!

 

Back to school here too

Every second Friday Greg goes shopping. Today Clea went with him as she was worried that he wouldn't buy what she wanted to eat.

We are still waiting for Victor's new books to arrive from France. However, some cruisers gave us their boy's old CM1 books so we could start. It is hard to go back into our school routine. It is laborious and needs some extra patience from me. The passing dinghies, the VHF, the other boats at the anchorage are good excuses for them to get distracted.

No good news regarding Merlin's repairs. We have been running around to have the right quotes and have everything organised. The other party and their insurer don't agree with these quotes so we haven't reached the ideal statu quo.
